Madam Presidents Long Hot Summer

The 1968 convention in Chicago is certainly being channeled now. Will Madam President be the Hubert Humphrey of the that convention? Will there be rioting in the streets? The Republican convention in Cleveland with open carry laws sounds like the shootout at the OK Corral teeing up. When police cant tell who is a bad guy and who is a good guy there is a problem. But then the Democrats will meet and there will be the spectre of all that rage potentially going bad outside the convention. Madam President will have to somehow embrace the rage and then defuse it.

Between Dallas and Black Lives Matter there has to be a middle point. Madam President will have to be nimble not to be pulled into the quicksand of either side. Somehow she has to use her legacy as the person who will inherit the mantle of  Barack Obama  and then take it another step further. For all his eloquence and feeling the President has not been able to satisfy either side in the debate between police and African Americans.

They say people rise to their hour. This may be Madam Presidents hour to become the President by healing the rift of distrust going right down the fabric of American society. The Democrats have always been the champion of the underdog and the party of the people. The summer is going to be long and hot. It will be Madam Presidents charge to find the water to cool the fire before it burns down the house.
