The Santorum Dark Ages

Santorum is a nightmare and fits the times. America has gone back to some sort of retro Salem Witch Trial era where people really believe in witches and devils and the liberal socialist monster under the bed. The fact people are talking about religion in daily life and that colleges indoctrinate people away from piety and conservatism and that religion is under attack because of contraception and that the Republicans are falling over themselves to sound like demagogic crusaders from the dark ages is nothing short of pathetic.

Mr. Homeschool doesn't want anyone to think for themselves least of all his kids.  Universities are the bastion of the devil with their lefty progressive agenda of free thinking and libertine ideals. College students drink and fornicate and get stoned. Damned liberals. And they form opinions. Land of the free does not pertain to people making their own decisions. Santorum is the preeminent fascist in thought and deed as he decries Obama and the secret agenda against religious liberties. It is all so much insanity.

And how sad the country has devolved to pitchforks and lanterns. The number of Pro Life Pro Gun stickers have increased proportionally and Santorum would  have us believe   the country is rolling straight back to a rural sensibility where the one room school house is suspect in comparison to the teachings of home and heart. Santorum is really a lunatic who has slipped through the lunatic fringe and managed to take his myopic my way or the highway views that in normal times would have kept him from graduating from the first Republican debate.

But times being what they are people look for extreme people to voice extreme solutions for problems that are in essence unsolvable. The country has evolved into a global tech based behemoth that has disenfranchised millions and will continue to do so. This bewilderment of a recession without end and hard times abounding where houses are worthless and jobs scarce, lets the crazies out to do their Halloween dance and scare hell out of everybody. Rick will never have his moment more than right now in the glare of the witches and goblins that people the paranoid world of Santormi.

Enjoy your fifteen minutes Ricky.
